Competitive positioning

What does your company actually win on, and does the customer see it

The story about what makes you different was written internally and never held up against the outside world. Deals are increasingly lost on price — usually the sign that the customer cannot see the difference the organisation feels. And claims like quality, service and reliability are made by every competitor on the list.

1

Dimensions that decide

Chosen from a per-sector library and adjustable: the things that actually determine whether you win in this market.

2

Four sources that correct each other

Your own sales and bid people, guided desk research, invited customers and experts, and connected data sources.

3

An evidence matrix

Every cell is a score plus its sources, date and author. A score without a source counts as an opinion and is shown separately.

What it delivers

The benchmark scores your position and that of your peer group on the dimensions that decide deals in your market. Scores come from four sources that correct each other, and every score lands in a traceable evidence matrix. What comes out is a maturity table, a quadrant, a radar per player and a heatmap — plus a white-space analysis and a claim test: which of your claims is defensible with evidence, and which is not.

How it works

Setup

Sector, a proposed set of dimensions from the library, the five-level scale calibrated with examples, and a peer group of three to seven players.

The source round

Invitations to your own people and to customers or experts, desk research recipes per competitor with a mandatory source URL per score, and data imports where connected.

The evidence matrix

Each cell gets its score, its sources, a date and an author. What has no source is shown as opinion — that is the correction between sources.

The report

Four views, white space, the claim test and priorities with urgency — with the three outcomes and the bridge to the work scan.

What this is not

  • Not a picture but a decision. A gap on a dimension the customer does not weigh is not a problem. A small gap on the buying dimension is. The report says which is which.
  • No claims without evidence. A score with no source is shown as an opinion and never counted as a fact. That is the whole point of the matrix.
  • We do not interview anyone. The tool invites your people and aggregates. Expert interviews exist in outcome route 2 or 3, with a partner.

Three outcomes

Every report ends in three routes. You choose; we deliver the analysis, not the engagement.

1

Do it yourself

A priority list with, per gap, whether to invest or leave it, how urgent it is, and the first three steps — plus a claim rewriting worksheet for the proposition you can actually defend.

2

Partly guided

A partner takes the expert interviews or the difficult peer scores; the tool stays the dossier and keeps the evidence matrix.

3

Outsource it

The partner runs the full benchmark on our machine in partner mode; the report remains yours.

The next step

Closing a gap is execution work

Winning on a dimension comes down to processes, people and systems. See what it costs to close the gap — and which part of it AI can carry.
